NLCC Ministries

The Chair Ministry's mission is to set up and tear down chairs for special events, as well as prepare for Peak of the Week and Sunday morning worship. The ministry is also responsible for supporting all activities within the sanctuary area. The men of NLCC are invited to join the ministry.

We also do the same for the pastor's sermon. We are also available for any other special events for the church, as well as weddings. grounds ministry The mission of the Grounds Ministry is to glorify God. Their projects are carefully evaluated to prevent becoming a burden to those who volunteer to serve. The team meets on an annual basis and anyone is welcomed to join in service. Throughout the year the Grounds Ministry's projects include: maintaining the grounds at the old Main Street facility by means of mowing, weed control, and annual pruning. Overseeing the mowing at the new church building done by John Miller - including spring and fall. Planting trees at the new church, and organizing work parties during the fall and spring. When needed the kitchen ministry meets at the church and welcomes anyone who is interested in helping fulfill their mission to join in service. The kitchen ministry's primary activities involve kitchen clean up and maintenance, as well as Peak of the Week. They are always open to fresh ideas and suggestions that would help to improve and expand their ministry. In addition, the Library Ministry also works to provide an audio library, Bible study books, Concordances, and Bibles. The Library Ministry is responsible for many different activities including cataloging books, visiting classes and reading books to children during junior worship, and also sponsoring children's reading programs. Currently the Library Ministry is attempting to obtain a computer for use. Any NLCC adult is welcome to assist in the Library Ministry's effort. The ministry meets at the church when necessary and any member of the church is welcomed to get involved. Current projects include improvements of the interior and exterior of the pastor's houses. The team meets on a quarterly basis, with current meeting dates and times being flexible. The team operates on the basis of executing an annual operating plan and budget. This involves maintaining ongoing support and communication with established missions, researching/evaluating requests for additional support to new missions, and assessing needs for establishing new, NLCC-founded mission projects. Any NLCC member is encouraged to get involved. For questions, please contact the team chairman, Tony Warren at (319) 385-6519 or warrent@hchc.org. nursery ministry Check back soon. prayer ministry The NLCC Prayer Ministry Team exists to support the staff, the ministries of NLCC, and the congregation with prayer and, and to foster a spirit of prayer in the Body, so that NLCC delights God's heart by becoming a "House Of Prayer", and to provide opportunities for the Body to pray together. Participation of NLCC attenders and members who feel drawn to the ministry of prayer is welcomed in: Sunday Morning Pre-service Prayer Meetings: Each Sunday at 7am: We meet in the Prayer Room to cover the Sunday Services and ministries with prayer as well as to pray for the community, missions and missionaries we support, members who have gone into full time ministry from our church, and requests that we have been given. The E mail Prayer Team: Participants who are accessible by e-mail receive requests, sometimes on a daily basis, as requests are called in or sent to the church by The Body, the community, and other ministries where the Body has an interest. Special Times of Prayer: Special Times of Prayer are called for by the Staff and the Prayer Ministry Team, where the entire congregation is invited to join in united prayer for different focuses and needs in the course of the year's ministry. The National Day of Prayer, The Beginning of the New Year. Easter Services, and the showing of The Passion film have been a few of the times that we have gathered in this way. Learning Sessions: The Prayer Ministry Team has provided opportunities at various times for learning how to pray more effectively for beginners and more advanced prayers by providing training seminars, videos, etc. These are held at various times of the year and notice is given through the usual news outlets of the church. United Prayer Events: with other churches and ministries: Several team members particpate monthly with the Greater Burlington Community Prayer Fellowship. We have joined together with the New London and Henry County National Day of Prayer Efforts and others similar events to pray for national and local needs. The team meets Monday nights at 7 pm. Anyone interested in learning sign is invited to join the team. The Sign team serves as an outreach of NLCC, being involved in many community activities. The team shares sign language with youth classes, supports deaf community activities, and accepts invitations from teachers in community schools. In addition, interpretive sign is offered during worship and classes are offered on Monday evenings.
